Goodbye To Ford’s Best-Selling Sedan
Over the last 15 years, the Ford Fusion has been a reliable, comfortable, and efficient sedan, serving the driving demands of individuals and families across the globe. In response to the increasing consumer demands, Ford has shifted to primarily manufacturing crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. Ford Motor Company made the bold move to end the production of Ford Fusion models. Marking the end of non-Mustang sedans has had a ripple effect across the automotive industry, as we may see other brands also making the same transition. Don’t miss out on this reliable sedan model while it lasts! Visit us at Boulevard Ford of Georgetown to take one for a spin.
Ford spokesperson Sam Schembari states, “As promised, Ford is reinventing the car to match consumers’ preferences and growing our business by significantly expanding our North America sport utility vehicle portfolio with the all-new Bronco and Bronco Sport, all-electric Mustang Mach-E, and all-new versions of Escape and Explorer, America’s all-time best-selling SUV.” Schembari continues, “As part of this shift, we ended Fusion sedan production on July 3.”

Be a part of this moment in Ford history! But first, journey with us through time to explore the Ford Bronco heritage.

In 1963, leading designers Donald Frey and Lee Iacocca began engineering the Ford Bronco inspired by veterans using the rugged Army Jeep on farms, ranches, and suburbs. By 1965, their dream became a reality, establishing 1966 models: the all-purpose Ford Bronco Roadster, the Sport Utility Ford Bronco half cab, and the Ford Bronco Wagon. Known for being both a G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) and a highway driver, these one-of-a-kind models stampeded the scene for over a decade. The second-generation Ford Bronco (1978-1979) emerged to a more robust body-style sharing components with Ford F-Series pickups. This model year also introduced more luxurious offerings for families in suburbias but was soon replaced by a third-generation (1980-1986) body style boasting better fuel economy and more comfort. Generation 4 enters the “Aerodynamic Age,” which lasted from 1987 to 1991 and included powertrain advancements and anti-lock braking technology. The fifth-generation rode out in style as designers dialed up the interior with premium sound and safety. Come on in and speak with our staff about how the groundbreaking 2021 Bronco measures up in originality and trusted 4X4 capability to its past life.
